Mask, "agwe"
Widekum, Cameroon
Ohne Sockel / without base
Wood, leather. H 32,5 cm.
Provenance:
Helmut (1931-2021) and Marianne Zimmer, Zurich.
The Widekum people are located in the upper reaches of the Cross River, in the western part of the Cameroon grasslands.
Little research has been done on this relatively small ethnic group to date, but it seems likely that the masks of this region are related to those of neighboring ethnic groups (e.g., the Anyang and Ekoi).
