Fossil representing Aspidorhynchus Compoti.
Its name meaning "armored snout", this now extinct species was present in the Jurassic and Cretaceous. Fossils belonging to this genus have also been discovered in Europe, notably in the famous lithographic limestone site of Solnhofen and in Antarctica. According to existing sources, this fast-swimming fish could reach up to 60 cm long depending on the species.
