General view. Gouache and watercolor pen and ink drawing by Maximilian von Asten. 22 x 37 cm (image size). Framed with passepartout under glass in black wooden frame (wormholes). 1859. From an elevated vantage point, the viewer looks at the town of Dollnstein, located on the Altmühl, which was drawn here "Frey after nature". The not further known Maximilian von Asten drew with a special attention to the architecture, clearly recognizable stands out the Catholic parish church of St. Peter and Paul. The surrounding fields and mountains are executed in a rather sketchy manner. Dollnstein lies in a wide valley basin in the middle of the Altmühltal Nature Park between the baroque town of Eichstätt and Wellheim. A medieval fortified wall surrounds the town center, half-timbered and Jura houses complete the picturesque townscape. The surrounding area with sunny juniper slopes, imposing cliffs, wooded heights and the quietly flowing Altmühl. - Lightly browned and brown-spotted. Not framed, therefore with possible marginal tears. Shipping only without frame. R
