Born Philippe Simounet, he took the name of his grandfather, the historian Camille Jullian. Gifted for writing, he was also a great drawer; he illustrated Dickens, Rilke, Morgan, Dostoyevsky, Colette, Proust
He ended his life on September 25, 1977.
