NASA. LARGE FORMAT. DEEP SPACE. Impressive cosmic waves made by a giant star: "Zeta Ophiuchi". Zeta Ophiuchi is a young, large and hot star located at about 370 light years. It has nothing to envy to our own sun: it is about six times hotter, eight times wider, 20 times more massive and about 80 000 times brighter. Even at this great distance, it would be one of the brightest stars in the sky if it were not largely obscured by dust clouds in the foreground. The stellar winds escaping from this fast-moving star ripple through the dust as it approaches, creating an arcing shock visible as bright silk threads, which for this star are only visible in infrared light. 2012.Vintage chromogenic print.
