LARGE BUDDHIST STELE in terra cotta. Rare and graceful representation of Tara sitting on a double lotus. The hands are in the position of Dharmachakra mudra, which means wheel of the Dharma. It thus designates the setting in motion of the Wheel of the Dharma teaching. It is one of the 21 representations of Tara, female deity from Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism.
