Michel MACREAU (1935-1995) is a painter born in Paris. He is considered as a precursor of the artistic movement of free figuration and is part of the lineage of the artists of art brut whose major representative is Jean DUBUFFET (1901-1985). Michel MACREAU followed an artistic training at the Grande-Chaumière academy. His painting is largely inhabited by the human body. His works are presented on numerous occasions in solo and group exhibitions. Michel MACREAU's first personal exhibition took place in 1962 at the Raymond CORDIER Gallery in Paris.
The artist is also close to the art of urban graffiti by his spontaneity and his way of treating the support as a wall. His production seems to evoke anxieties, fears or nostalgia.
