Bouquet of flowers in glass vase (Bouquet Varié), 1938 Oil on canvas. 55 x 38 cm. Signed "Kisling" in the upper right corner. In decorative frame in frame box. On a reddish rectangular table top the standing angular glass vase against bluish-white background. In it can be seen white, red and purple anemones and yellow daisies protruding upwards. The flowers of the Polish-born painter, who worked in Montmartre, here enter into formal contact with their surroundings. The artist was a French painter of Polish-Jewish origin. He first studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow before moving to Paris and living in the Montmatre district from 1910. He was friends with many of his contemporaries, including his neighbor Amedeo Modigliani, who painted him.
