Paris, Wednesday, November 8, 1911

Interesting letter from Roland Bonaparte about "ferns" sent by M. de Morgan: "I received your kind letter as well as the collection of ferns that you sent me". Roland Bonaparte was first interested in anthropology and geography, then he turned to botany with the project of creating a general herbarium of exotic and medicinal plants. He created a herbarium of more than 3,500,000 plant specimens from all over the world and had a private mansion built in Paris, avenue de Iéna, to house his collection. At his death in 1924, his daughter Marie, Princess of Greece, bequeathed 500,000 fern specimens to the Museum of Natural History in Paris and 3,000,000 specimens to the University of Lyon.
