Signed on the lower right "P.S.Verlinden". In front of the entrance of a magnificent building with Corinthian columns made of reddish marble, Christ is seen in blue-red moving robe. In his left hand he holds a scourge of cords, with which he tries in violent movement to expel the merchants with their sacrificial goods and the money changers from the Jerusalem temple. He looks angrily at the trading activity and has already knocked over some things; in front of him two merchants have already fallen to the ground, another has raised his hands to his head to protect himself from the powerful blows. In the foreground, on the steps, we see a woman who has fallen to the ground, with a child and a basket full of fruit. On the left side one recognizes a man with a he-goat on his back and a feathered fowl, both also intended as offerings. Above him, a young man in a red robe with a blue overcoat is fleeing. On the right, two money changers, a seated woman and a standing man in a yellow cloak with a hood, watch the action suspiciously and try to bring their coins to safety.
