ROY, Guilielmus "Metinghe ende caerte figuratieff [...] soo landen, boschen, beempden, vyvers, heyden, vennen, etc. van de hoeve van [?]hoven onder Arschot toebehoorende S.er Peeter Van der Ghoes, ende dat in september 1643 [...]". Drawing, 63 x 87 cm, pen and brown ink, watercolour, on parchment (undulated and with tears). Intriguing land survey plan of the Laak and Demer valley by the sworn land surveyor Guillielmus Roy (Leuven). Showing an unidentified local farmstead, in fact a property of Peeter van der Ghoes situated at the Meetshovense Laak ("Laecke fluvius") and the river Demer, the local lakes: "Den Grooten vijver", "Den Witten vijver", etc., the roads to Mechelen, Cologne, Aarschot, etc. and the house of "Lysbeth vanden Eynde". Particulary interesting because of the farm; is it the Speelhoven, Meetshoven, Schonhoven, Hoeve Nieuwland, the Veldonkhoeve, or even the disappeared walled Steyenhof between Betekom and Aarschot?
