Swiss or German, 1st quarter 16th c.
Massive short square point, flat base with spine, long narrow trapezoidal blade with slanted straight edge, strike mark (sword stroke?), blade top and bottom minimally concave, beak hook over long narrow base, mark: in pentagon with tapered base "U"-shaped mark. Two shank feathers. Octagonal stock erg.
L 191,5 cm.

Rare early half-barrel from the time of Marignano 1515 and Pavia 1525. Weapon from the same workshop in the Slg. Altes Zeughaus Solothurn and in the Metropolitan Museum N.Y.. Cf.
