GREW (Nehemiah): The anatomy of plants. With an idea of a philosophical history of plants. And several other lectures, read before the Royal Society. [London], W. Rawlins, 1682. One volume. 18,5 by 30,5 cm. (22)-24-(10)-304-(19) pages + 83 plates out of which 5 are folding (complete). Full early 19th century shagreen spine with 5 raised bands and red title. Heads and hinges skillfully restored. Binding in very good condition. Light staining on about ten plates, small marginal paper loss on plate 30, without affecting the engraving, front cover of the first leaf and verso of the last one slightly soiled, a few stains without gravity. First collective edition of the works of GREW (1641-1712), an immense botanist, but also an original scientist, who was also interested in dermatoglyphs (fingerprints) and bats
