In-8°. Full tan morocco (unsigned, late 19th century). Spine with gilt bindings decorated with flowers and the number EB for Emmanuel Bocher. Triple gilt fillet on the boards decorated at the four corners with the same number EB. Double gilt fillet running along the edges. Large gilt lace on the back covers. All edges gilt. Rubbing to the nerves, to the headpieces and in a more pronounced manner to the spines. Almost free of foxing.
First edition, printed by Balzac. It is the only important romantic literary work in first edition printed by him.
A fine copy.
