Joseph LANDAIS (1800-1883).
Important plate in barbotine with decoration in relief of carp, pike and perch, the border decorated with a frieze of stylized flowers.
Signed on the marli.
59 x 39 cm.
(tiny chips and scratches).
Note : A moment brother-in-law of Charles-Jean AVISSEAU (1795-1861), Joseph LANDAIS became his main rival. He belonged to the School of Tours renowned for its creations in barbotine with figuline decoration around artists like Léon BRARD (1830-1902).
He was awarded an honorable mention at the Exhibition of Agricultural and Industrial Products in 1849.
Our dish is exceptional by its size and the quality of its decoration inspired by the works of Bernard PALISSY (1510-1590).
