Two armchairs " dagobert " Levantine
Wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl, turned wood
Levant, circa 1900
H. 102 cm - W. 67 cm - D. 59 cm
These two "dagobert" armchairs are typical of the Levantine productions of the late 19th century. Each has a rich chiseled decoration of plant motifs abounding on its entire surface, interspersed with numerous mother-of-pearl inlaid elements forming stars, lozenges and flowers. The backs, composed of scalloped cut wood elements, are openwork with turned wood rosettes in the central part. One is decorated with chiseled calligraphic cartouches on the upper part of the back.
