Curious work following the works of the founders of phrenology Franz Joseph Gall (1758-1828) and his disciple Johann Gaspar Spurzheim (1776-1832); the painter Hippolyte Bruyères being none other than the son-in-law of the latter. Head cover damaged, some rubbing, small scattered brown spots.
