Box of a silver pourer and its milk jug. Paris 1798-1809
Goldsmith : Martin-Guillaume Biennais ( 1764-1843 )
Of ovoid form resting on three claw feet with shell attachments. The body is underlined by a large frieze engraved with swans around a cup. The covered spout of the jug is decorated with palmettes on an amatized background.
The decoration is repeated identically on the creamer, which rests on a pedestal highlighted by a frieze of water leaves.
Handles in accolade in blackened wood.

The set is engraved with a monogrammed shield JR.

This set belonged to Gabriel Ouvrard, banker of Napoleon I and Louis-Philippe, and was offered to Mrs. Thébaud, his sister-in-law, and has been kept since by her descendants.
