DANTE - Dante Poggiali. Ms. Pal. 313. Castel Guelfo: Imago, 2013. A reproduction of the ms codex Pal. 313 made in Florence in the second quarter of the fourteenth century. It is considered the oldest illustrated version of the Divine Comedy, being decorated with 37 marvelous miniatures by two great masters from the workshops of Bernardo Daddi and Pacino di Bonaguida, who were inspired by Giotto's art. The text is enriched by Italian and Latin glosses, as well as by comments by Jacopo Alighieri, son of the author, Jacopo della Lana and Graziolo Bambagnoli. The codex belonged to Piero de Nero and reached the library of the Guadagni family in the 17th century, and then came into the possession of Gaetano Poggiali, who used the manuscript as a model for his Comedy of 1807.
