JEAN-BAPTISTE CARPEAUX (1827-1875) The Constitution Posthumous casting from the second half of the 20th century Bronze with brown patina Signed " JB te Carpeaux ". Bears the founder's stamp " CIRE PERDUE C VALSUANI ". Height : 21 cm Related work Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux, Project for a monument to Dom Pedro, Emperor of Brazil, King of Portugal, 1864, original plaster, 115 x 62.5 x 62.5 cm, Valenciennes, Musée des Beaux-Arts, S.92.37. This is a bronze print of one of the allegorical figures representing the Constitution. This figure was part of a monument to the memory of Dom Pedro I, Emperor of Brazil and King of Portugal. Carpeaux participated in 1865 in a competition organized by the city of Lisbon. His project was never selected.
