AFGHAN carpet (Hatchlou decoration from Central Asia), mid 20th century
Dimensions : 251 x 173cm.
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation.
Two large rectangular boxes with ivory borders, decorated with crosses of Saint Andrew and small flowers, and separated by a column of crosses pattées, occupy the center of this carpet. They are sown with small trophies (Kotchaks) and segmented by two elongated mihrabs of "Bechir" style. The frame composed of stylized plants, small Kotchaks, flowers and crosses of Saint Andrew, on a pink and chestnut background is located on three sides. The other end is with vegetable reserve of half Gülhs and row of "stars of light" on caissons. Kilim on each side.
