Gold, set with an intaglio on carnelian figuring Eros on a lion. Allegory of Love
Triumphant (Amor Omnia Vincit). Eros is sitting on the shoulders of a lion and holding a whip
whip with his left hand, while with his right hand he is holding on to the mane of the powerful
feline. Both are facing the right. Allegory of Love subduing strength,
triumphant. Beautifully executed, Gem of a bright red color. Signs of wear.
Intaglio: XVIIth-XVIIIth century. 16 x 17 mm
Mounting XIXth century, the bezel incised with concentric lines, the underside with
petals. Diam int 19 mm . 5,9 grs
A 19th century gold ring set with a 17th-18th century carnelian intaglio figuring an allegorical
scene of triumphing Love (Amor Omnia Vincit). Eros sits on the shoulders of a lion and holds
a whip in his left hand, while in his right he clings to the mighty feline's mane. Both are facing
right. Allegory of Love subduing strength, triumphant. Beautiful execution, Gem of a bright red
