In gold, in the shape of a shield with spikes. Set with a large intaglio
intaglio on sardony representing a spider on its web with a
crown of laurel. Extraordinary representation of a spider
catching its prey. The deadly insect, in the center, catches the
fly that has fallen into its web. All around, a crown of laurel
finely engraved, symbol of success and victory. The very rare subject
is engraved on a large rounded sardine, very thick and protruding,
like a magic eye. The back has a few holes/channels perhaps for an earlier
for an older and earlier assemblage. Signs of wear. Execution
very refined.

A 19th century gold brooch set with a large late republican sardonyx intaglio
depicting a spider on its web with laurel wreath.1st century B.C. Extraordinary
representation of a spider catching its prey. The deadly insect, in the
center, catches the fallen fly in its web. All around, a finely engraved laurel
wreath, symbol of success and victory. The very rare subject is engraved
on a large, very thick and protruding rounded sardine, like a magic eye. The
back has some holes/channels maybe for older and previous assembly.
Signs of wear. Very refined execution. Intaglio diam 26 mm; 19,1grs
