Beautiful pair of pommel guns by the prestigious Boutet company in Versailles. Octagonal rifled barrels slightly tromblonnés in gauge 34 to the pound. The barrels bear on the sides, at the level of the light, three round punches in hollow. The punch of the higher side carries the letters NB and bonnet phrygien (Nicolas Boutet). The punch on the left VF and phrygian bonnet. The punch right B2 with the Phrygian cap (punch of the inspector Boussavy), which one finds with the back of the plate. The latter bears the signature "Manuf. de Versailles" in cursive letters as used around the year IV. Weapons mounted iron, mount extending to the mouth in smooth walnut. Overall length: 350mm including 208mm of barrel. Functional mechanism.
Simple pair, without engraving nor embellishment but of very beautiful manufacture and of very good quality. Beautiful untouched pair, very slight crack at the level of the rosette forming counterplate (almost invisible) on one of the pistols. Missing a rod tip. One of the pistols is missing a ramrod tip.
