Superb 19th century Persian shamshir. Curved blade with a groove 880 mm long, back with a high relief rush. Throat in the middle of the bead in the middle third of the blade. Counter-edge reinforced with a rush decorated with golden arabesques. Important text in Arabic letters engraved on the ricasso of the blade, in a cartouche with a descended bottom which can be translated as follows: Mash Allah (Glory to God!) la Hawla wa la gawlata ila (there is strength and power only in God). On the reverse there is a cartouche bearing a verse "Ya Kadi Al Hacat" (Oh the one who provides for the needs of people) surmounting a round cartouche engraved with the traditional Persian lion motif. Steel frame decorated with niello with four-lobed patterns. Two symmetrical guard branches. A jointing arch with return joining one of the quillons and the pommel in head of parakeet, two cabochons representing the eyes. No scabbard (1)
