Le Désespéré. Paris, Tresse & Stock, 1887; in-8 havana half-paperback, green title page,

First printed edition, from 1886, put on sale seven years later. The publication of the edition
Soirat having given rise to no lawsuit, the publisher Stock decided in 1893 to publish his own,
printed but stored in his cellar. He amended the passage directed against Francis Magnard
in accordance with the Soirat edition by making the booklet containing it hard-bound and had the copies stapled
copies under a backdated cover.
Address : " to Monsieur l'abbé Mugnier, Léon Bloy ", on the false title (reassembled?)
