SIVAS - SEBASTIA (Asia Minor) carpet, early 20th century
Dimensions : 375 x 318cm.
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation.
An ivory field, oblong, with braces, covered by a network of delicate flowered stems, welcomes in its center a medallion in brick poly-lobed mandorla, vegetalized, with a pastel starry heart and its pendants. Wide floral spandrels navy. Four pastel borders with garlands of flowers frame the main brick scroll flowered undulating. Beautiful set. Carpet woven by the Armenians before the genocide of 1915.
