KIRMAN carpet (Persia), late 19th century, early 20th century
Dimensions : 410 x 270cm.
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation.
A starry and poly-lobed rosette, ivory and navy, entirely vegetalized, serves as a perch for many birds. It is enthroned in the center of a field, chestnut and bluish, covered with an inextricable lattice of polychrome floral branches. The interlacing and convolutions form varied compositions. Five borders, one main and four secondary, navy, sky and old gold, with garlands of flowering stems frame the whole.
