Beautiful edition published by Louis-Aimé Martin (1781-1847). It is illustrated with a frontispiece and 12 plates, engraved on copper after Prudhon, Chaudel, Desenne, Gérard, Girodet, Launay and Moitte.
ONE OF THE EXEMPLIES ON LARGE VELIN PAPER, including the engravings in their original state. It is enriched with a portrait of Arnauld and two suites of engravings before the letter, one including a portrait of Jean Racine and 12 plates, engraved after Desenne (1819 edition), and the other 19 plates engraved after Étienne Barthélémy Garnier (1808 edition).
