autograph manuscript; half page in-4 (brown wetness).
A reading note taken from Father Joseph Barre's Histoire de l'Allemagne (1748), vol. 4, p. 325, as specified by Rousseau, who wrote this note at the time of the publication of Barre's book, while working with his patron Mme Dupin on a work Sur l'égalité des hommes et des femmes, which was never published.
This note refers to the eleventh century.
"The Emperor Henry having entered the lands of Countess Matilda and having abandoned them to plunder, the countess, or earlier, says Fr. Barre, Duke Welf her husband, came to meet the Imperials and won against them a great battle on the Sorbaria plain."
