PAIR OF ARMCHAIRS WITH FRAME
Carved and gilded wood with flowers and foliage.

Sashes redone. The cuffs are nailed.
The belt is "in the heart" in which are inscribed four flowers. The supports
of armrests in whiplash are largely receded. The arched feet are underlined
of acanthus leaves. These two seats are covered with a crimson velvet. Michel
Cresson is the youngest son of the carpenter Jean Cresson with whom he certainly made
his apprenticeship. Like his brother Louis, he distinguished himself in the manufacture of seats,
and took over many of Louis' models after the latter's death. His workshop was installed
in the district of the craftsmen in seats, street of Cléry. He received prestigious orders
among which those of the prince of Condé for the furnishing of the Bourbon Palace in
Paris and the castle of Chantilly and delivered seats to Louise-Elisabeth duchess of Parma,
in Rome. Michel Cresson retired from business in the mid-1770s.
