Provenance according to the owner : USA, acquired in the years 2000.
Beautiful trade kachina conforming in style, of large size, wearing the half mask embellished with a feathered beard figured in paint, the body painted with a black background, the shoulders covered with yellow drips, the arms attached to the torso holding a branch of Douglas fir. The kilt is white with a painted side belt of stepped sky stairs. The legs are separated and slightly bent, the feet shod with green moccasins. The whole sculpture renders a dance movement.
Present at regular ceremonial dances, Ang-Ak-China is a spirit of Zuni origin. Synonymous with the promise of a good harvest, he announces the showers that will allow germination. He is seen in the company of his female alter ego Angak'china Mana.
