These memoirs testify to the harshness of the legal harassments of landowners in the colonies, mostly in claim of ownership of black slaves. Edifying details on the "elite blacks", the transfers of slaves from one plantation to another, the name and price of some "negroes", slavery under the Consulate and the Empire: Mémoire pour la veuve du Général Dugommier (Basse-Terre, 40 p.).
