Trophy head Designed as a real sculpture, this emaciated head presents prominent cheekbones and hollowed out eye sockets, while the thin lips open in the form of a rictus, revealing the teeth. The back is treated with realism revealing the cranial sutures. Terracotta with bright orange slip. Maya culture, Mexico 450 - 750 AD H. 17 - l. 18 - Th. 15 cm Provenance: - Collection of M. Eisenbeth, Paris. Acquired from the Pierre-Eric Becker gallery in 1994. A certificate of authenticity of 20.09.94, will be given to the buyer.
