INRO in Japanese urushi lacquer, opening with 4 compartments and a lid, in gold Maki-e. Fundame gold lacquer background with boats in the middle of reeds in gold lacquer. The interior of the compartments is entirely lacquered in nashiji. EDO period, end of 18th century, beginning of 19th century. Maki-e literally: "scattered painting", or "sprinkled image" is a form of lacquer art practiced in Japan (Crack in the lacquer of a compartment). H. 9,7 cm, L. 5 cm
