Les hommes Tingari étaient généralement suivis d'un groupe de femmes Tingari et accompagnés de novices. Leurs aventures sont relatées dans une série de chants sacrés. Ces histoires font partie, aujourd'hui encore, de l'enseignement des jeunes après leur période d'initiation et expliquent l'origine des coutumes suivies par leur communauté. This painting depicts designs related to the Tingari Cycle. Since events associated to it are of a secret nature, no further detail can be given. Generally, the Tingari are a group of mythical characters of the Dreaming who travelled over vast stretches of the country, performing rituals and creating and shapping particular sites. The Tingari Men were usually followed by Tingari Women and accompanied by novices. Their travels and adventures are enshrined in a number of song cycles. These mythologies from part of the teachings of the post initiatory youths today as well as provinding explanations for contemporary customs.
