L'Esprit contre la Raison. Marseille, Les Cahiers du Sud, 1927. In-12 [190 x 139] of 56 pp, (4) ff. the first and last white: black box, boards covered with a geometrical composition made of dark green, black, white, and grey glossy paper pieces and grey, dark green and light green matte paper, smooth spine, dark green glossy paper lining, gilt head, untrimmed, cover and spine preserved, rhodoid spine folder and overlapping cardboard boards, slipcase (P.L. Martin 1958) First edition: it is illustrated with a portrait of the author after the Russian surrealist painter Pavel Tchelitchev. ONE OF 30 NUMBERED COPIES ON VELLUM LAFUMA (N° 14), SECOND PAPER AFTER 14 ON RIVES. A raging pamphlet, L'Esprit contre la Raison is a kind of Manifesto of Surrealism proper to René Crevel. It is also a tribute to the leader of the movement, André Breton, abundantly quoted. Very nice copy in decorated binding by Pierre-Lucien Martin.
