A HAND PAINTED BANGU BEIJING OPERA DRUM
China, late Qing dynasty (1644-1912). The flattened barrel shaped drum with lacquered wood sides set with a pair of iron loop handles, applied with animal skin which is fastened by iron buttons, and hand painted with a dragon to one side and a phoenix to the other. Inscriptions to either side indicating a province in China.
Condition: Very good condition with some wear and few minor flakes to the lacquer.
