19th century LYONIAN school, Claude BONNEFOND's workshop Portrait of a man as a shepherd Canvas. Without frame. Height : 76 cm Width : 62,5 cm Stamped with Claude Bonnefond's signature at the bottom left "C. Bonnefond / D...". This signature stamp corresponds to a stamp affixed by the artist later. Director of the Ecole des Beaux Arts de Lyon between 1831 and 1860, Bonnefond could have applied this stamp to a work of a student of the Ecole des Beaux Arts in the form of a validation of a work presented to the competition like the Laurier d'or. We could then read under "C. Bonnefond" the term "Director". We thank Mr. Michel Regnier, curator of the exhibition, for having transmitted this information to us.
