GEO-FOURRIER (Lyon, 1998 - Quimper, 1966) Georges Fourrier, known as
Seated woman, legs folded, probably Bororo.
Pastel and ink lines monogrammed in the lower right corner.
Height : 32 cm. Width: 26 cm (Sight).
Geo-Fourrier spent five months in Equatorial Africa, from January to June 1931. He took 300 photographs and about sixty drawings. Fascinated, he describes the Bororo women in this way: "tall, slender, extremely racy (...) silent and proud". Praising their "astonishing beauty", he notes that they are dressed in "a long indigo gabak loincloth that covers their breasts and loins".
