In-16 full red morocco, spine with 5 nerves, gold title and date at the foot, three gilt edges, counterpane with roulette, slipcase.
Amsterdam, chez Henri Desbordes, 1707.
Rare edition published the same year as the original in Amsterdam. Complete with the frontispiece engraving representing the appearance of the devil.
Ex-libris of Maurice Cohen pasted on.
A classic of the French novel de meurs. Published in 1707, the text was reworked in 1726, but Lesage made such important changes that the editions prior to this date are to be considered as a separate work from the editions published from 1726 onwards, which also explains their rarity.
