To restart The PIAGGIO firm was founded in 1884 in
Genoa to craft equipment
interiors of boats then of railway wagons
iron and from 1915, planes and seaplanes.
It seems that the 1st prototype of the Vespa scooter
dates from 1945 but the first marketed will be
in 1946 with all the success that will ensue.
Following the success of Vespa in Italy, its production
was launched in Europe with Hoffmann then
Messerschmitter in Germany and Douglas
in England.
For France, the government retrocedes
the SNCAC a former nationalized factory
then in full decline to a financial group
which constitutes the ACMA Company
(Construction Workshops and Motorcycles and
Accessories). From 1952, the
manufacturing will be 100% French.
Having purchased the manufacturing license from
PIAGGIO, this one will have as
difference than the passing headlight position
from the front fender to the handlebar
following the French legislation which requires a
minimum distance of 60 cm from the ground.
In 1962, ACMA closed its doors and Vespa
France is created for the import of
Italian scooters for the French market
