Alix, plate #35 in Indian ink and white gouache highlights from the episode "Les Légions perdues" published in the newspaper Tintin #12 of March 19, 1963. This intrigue will bring the hero in all Gaul in order to give back to the Gallic chiefs the famous sword of Brennus which armed the arm of Vercingetorix and thus to put an end to a plot. This story is considered to be the most accomplished of the saga and one in which the artist truly acquires total mastery of his art. The features and the modeling of the bodies are supple and the composition uses close-ups combined with a great depth of field. This dynamic staging is enhanced by vast panoramic shots alternating with shots closer to the characters. Major plate which lets appear the protagonists several times. Size : 36,5 x 48.
