A Frank Miller-like sky, streaked with white lightning. As solitary as the Dark Knight, his tail whipping through the air like a cape, the Marsupilami rides a steel gargoyle in the style of the Chrysler Building - but this one has taken on a jaguar look: Gotham Ciudad is in Palombia, not in the Gringos. "I've been studying my superheroes. I wanted to work a dark Marsupilami, like the Batman is. Some people frowned, so I changed his expression, but kept the position of his ears: they express anger. The nose is not wrinkled: I lightened it. And the look is much more determined." Batem first laid down his sky, then the tags flanking the composition, and finished with a Marsupilami - whose place is systematically in front - treated with acrylic for its covering power. "Without the red sky and the faded mist, the whole would have been sad. But the choice of colors, the expression of the Marsupilami and the gem he is holding win the day. A work that I carried out with great pleasure."
