Nordic influences and Italianate and Venetian sensibilities are intertwined in the painting under consideration, especially if we look at the landscape and the peculiar luminosity. These features point to a 17th-century date, while the style data, the analysis of the figures, and the way the painter took care of the sky drafting or the definition of the passages suggest the name of August Querfurt (Wolfenbuttel, 1696 - Vienna, 1761), an author trained with the Wouwerman, the Parrocel and finally Jan van Huchtenburg. Thus we see the protean variety of his art, which does not elude the clear Italian influence close in some cases to the achievements of Giuseppe Zais.
