PIOUS IMAGERY. Set of +/- 325 pious images, mortuaries, souvenirs of communion... XVIIth-XIXth c. Engravings, various formats, texts in French, Dutch, Latin. Good condition. XVIIth-XVIIIth - +/- 25 images, most of them +/- 10 x 7 cm, on vellum or laid paper (1 on pink silk), some of them enhanced with watercolor and gold, some ms. from the ep., mounted on laid paper with gilt edges, on red bristol with windows or other sheets. Few defects, several mounts with sticky paper. Images published in the southern Netherlands and in Liege. Some signatures: Henri Causé, I. Huberti, L. Fruytiers, M. Cools, Mich. Cabbay. Figurines, a.o. : "Jesus amabilis", St Joseph, SS Peter and Paul, St January, St Gregory, St Anthony, St Francis, 7 engravings taken from a series on the apostles. XIXth - About sixty images, some lithogr. in colors, including : - +/- 50 of the "lace images". - 1 image of Anne of Saint Bartholomew sealed with a relic, signed Susanna Verbruggen (text in Dutch). - 1 communion souvenir on "Rhodoid" enhanced with colors and decorated with mother-of-pearl pieces and a figure of a communicant decorated with white silk (under lace paper wrapping). XXth - +/- 120 mortuary souvenirs, in French and Dutch, some in color. Several illustrations of a photogr. portrait of the deceased, including : Jean "Joseph" Raikem (1787-1875), politician from Liège, magistrate and minister of Justice in 1839-1840, Octave Selb (1847-1912), senator of the prov. of Antwerp, Dr. Joseph Sebrechts (1885-1948), prof. of surgery at the Univ. of Leuven, Albert Mariën (1896-1964), senator and governor of the prov. of East Flanders, qqs. magistrates, etc. Various - 10 romantic culs-de-lampe cut out of 19th century publications, some with religious motifs. - +/- 50 pictures with prayers, 6 small brochures of evangelical societies (Brux. and Liège, 19th-20th c.). - Plenary indulgence, Brussels, W. & C., [20th c.]. 50 copies.
