Italy, Sicily, late eighteenth century Antependium to the lamb on the book of seven seals in gold embroidery, spun, curled, blade and cannetille in coating and embossing, enhanced with sequins and gold spangles and enameled red for the seals of the book on a large ivory Towers. The clouds are in polychrome sorbec coating. Height. 100 Width. 240 cm. Provenance : Josiane and Daniel Fruman collection. A late 18th century Italian embroidered altar frontal depicting the Lamb on the Book of the Seven Seals. The representation of the sleeping lamb lying on the cross on the Book of the Seven Seals appears in the center of the cross on the back of a chasuble that probably belonged to the ornaments of the chapel of the Palace of Versailles and is now in the De Young Museum in San Francisco (Diane Mott, A set of Liturgical Vestments from the Time of Louis XIV, in Fine Arts, Museums of San Francisco, Spring/Summer 2008, pp. 21-22).
