Jean Avisse (1723-after 1796) and Claude-Louis Burgat (1717-before 1782) Important and rare salon "à la Reine" in molded, carved and re-lacquered wood, composed of six armchairs, two matching chairs and a chimney screen decorated with a tapestry in the Levant theme. The seats with straight backs called "à la Reine" carved with bouquets and flowers in bloom. The backs are curved with clasps and the legs are arched with ribs. Slight variations in the floral sculptures of the armchairs and chairs do not disrupt a homogeneous set. Four armchairs stamped IAVISSE. Jean Avisse (1723-after 1796), received master in 1745, practiced at 124 rue de Cléry between 1769 and 1796. Two chairs stamped C.L.BURGAT. Claude-Louis Burgat (1717-before 1782), received master in 1744, practiced at rue de Cléry then rue Feydau. Louis XV period. Armchairs : Height 94 Long. 67 Dep. 57 cm. Chairs : Height 89 Long. 59 Depth 53 cm. Fireplace screen : Height 100 Long. 68 Depth 40 cm (Accidents and wear). Provenance: large living room of a castle in the Loir Valley. A rare 18th century set of six lacquered wood armchairs, two matching chairs and a fire screen by Jean Avisse and Claude-Louis Burgat. Stamped. Louis XV period. The skill of the carpenter is shown in the execution of these seats: the curved lines are well balanced and an energetic molding underlines the design.
