Decalcomania. Undated [1939-1940]. Original decalcomania on paper (25 x 32.5 cm) with autograph message in pencil on the back dated 1954. Precious test print of Oscar Dominguez's decalcomania, which, enhanced with green gouache, was used for the cover of the deluxe copies of the Anthology of Black Humor (1940). It was reproduced in the catalog Sueños de tinta (Centro atlantico de arte moderno, 1993, p. 34) under the title: Greeting Card, 1954. Indeed, on the back, the painter wrote in pencil: "Happy New Year 1954." But he evidently used this trial print that was in his archives to send it as a greeting card. The catalog reproduces another variant (p. 90) under the title "Glass." Four years earlier, in 1936, Oscar Dominguez had developed the process that was destined to flourish among the Surrealists, a process described by André Breton as "decalcomania without a preconceived object" or "decalcomania of desire." Marks of horizontal and vertical folds.
