The collection was initially to be published under the title Le Tiroir de laque, illustrated by a host of artists. However, only Renoir answered the poet's call.
Beautiful autograph letter signed on the preliminary page:
To Paul Nadar/in good friendship/on the earth and on the water/Stéphane Mallarmé/Valvins, 1891
Paul Nadar (1856-1939), son of the photographer, befriended the poet in July 1891, one month after the publication of the collection.
In the correspondence, Mallarmé relates in particular fishing trips on board the canoe of his neighbor Nadar.
Pleasant copy in contemporary binding.
Scattered spotting.
